These two wonderful quality silver "palm tree" centrepieces with hallmarks for London 1902 were made by Dobson & Sons. Dobson and Son were perhaps best known for their work "on behalf of an unnamed eastern pontenate" during the early 20th century. By 1907 they had supplied a 17000 piece dinner service and a monumental tray and table weighing many thousands of ounces alone. star most closely associated during this period with the Ottoman Empire. it is possible that these centrepieces formed part of the aforementioned extensive dinner service and that the "unnamed eastern pontenate" was a member of the Ottoman Royal Dynasty.

Pieces bearing the hallmarks of Dobson & Son are quite rare despite the large "eastern order" placed with them" it is possible and might even be considered likely that work was outsourced to other manufactures to meet the demands of their client.
