Part of Elkington's considerable success was their development and implementation of innovative manufacturing techniques, most notably electrotyping which allowed for copies of popular masterpieces to be made. Many pieces were also made co-operation with The Victoria & Albert Museum and other institutions.
Many of Elkington's most famous works are in Private & Museum collections, notably The Helicon Vase in the British Royal Collection, The "Milton" and "Bunyan" Shields & the Jasmine vase in the Victoria & Albert Museum. Each of these is characterised by their quality and the use of mixed materials with each being made from silver and damascened steel elements.
